Our Mission

We want to make sure everybody can defend themselves against bad actors before it is too late.

Our Story

We started DarkMind for one reason. To stop bad actors from harming innocent people. We want to help you stop malevolent actors from destroying your organization, from terrorizing your employees, stealing your secrets, committing fraud in your name.

Companies lose trillions each year to damage caused by psychopaths, narcissists, sociopaths and other dark characters who do not have your best interests in mind. DarkMind helps you find these people can defend yourself.

Experienced Leadership

Our CEO, Daniel N. Jones is an Associate Professor of Management at University of Nevada, Reno and a core faculty member in its Interdisciplinary Social Psychology Program. Dr. Jones has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, including work in leading journals such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Business Ethics, and Perspectives on Psychological Science. In 2019 he received the Early Career Award, and his research has been funded by organizations including the National Science Foundation and the Army Research Laboratory.

His research focuses primarily on the “dark” side of personality—particularly the Dark Triad (Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcissism) and the Dark Tetrad (the Dark Triad plus sadism). He has published influential work examining how these traits overlap and differ, with special attention to Machiavellianism, as well as how they relate to betrayal, deception, organizational harm, destructive leadership, and cybersecurity risks. More recently, his work has expanded to developing practical interventions to reduce the harm associated with these traits. Alongside this research, he is also exploring other psychological tendencies, including “emophilia”—the tendency to fall in love quickly and frequently—which is the subject of his forthcoming book Emophilia: The Science of Serial Romance with Oxford University Press.
